Module Competence 
This module is designed to enable the learner acquire knowledge and skills to maintain and repair various medical equipment.
 Module Outcomes 
By the end of this module, the learner should;
 1. Apply knowledge and skills acquired in Vacuum tubes, AC Oscillators, Power supplies, Amplifiers, Operational Amplifiers and Cathode Ray Oscilloscope to maintain and repair various medical equipments. 

Course Content

 Module Content 






  • Theory: Vacuum Tubes; diodes valves, triodes valves, CRT, Cathode Ray Oscilloscope (CRO); construction, operation, application.

  •  

  • Amplifiers; RC coupled, power amplification, Frequency response, Feedback. Operation

  •  

  •  Amplifiers; Basic Instrumentation Amplifiers, DC amplifiers, Differential amplifiers, Characteristics of op-amps, Application of op-amps.AC oscillators; Concepts of oscillation, Requirement of oscillation, Oscillation circuits. 



  • Practicum:
    Use of the C.R.O to measure; voltage, current, frequency, phase – shift. Power


  • Supplies and amplifiers; rectifier circuits, smoothing circuits, stabilizing circuits, single
    stage RC coupled with transistors amplifiers, two stage RC coupled with transistor
    amplifier.

  • Operational Amplifiers Circuits; long tail pair circuit connection, Op-amp
    circuits (inverting and non-inverting amplifier), special functions, characteristics. A.C.


  • Oscillator circuits; connection of various oscillator circuits, drawing of waveforms of
    the circuits, determining frequency of oscillation.
